Some comments from our community college department are that teaching something like R while teaching stats is a “fool’s errand”, which is discouraging. I think some exposure to R is a good skill for a student’s resume. Do you have an suggestions for a good point in the term to teach R, and how much should one teach?

What about electronic homework platforms? Do open source texts have such things? That's certainly a big draw for the costs of other programs.

And having each pair of students plot their randomization statistic on a class dotplot to see the distribution and where the center is...!

Could you say, in a nutshell, how such an intro data science course is different than intro stats? (I feel kinda dumb asking, but...)
